Heroes on Quads

Heroes On Quads is a story about how a group of civilian instructors hook up with an elite unit of Army special forces. Together they train and end up going toe to toe with the enemies of the United States. The civilians are recruited to teach the soldiers how to ride ATV's (All Terrain Vehicles). The soldiers teach the civilians how to be soldiers. The book is in two parts. In book one, the team is formed. In cooperation with the private sector a couple of models of high performance ATV's are developed and produced for the US Army. Honda and Palaris team up with army design engineers to do this. Civilian pro racers are recruited from all over the country. Individually they are great riders....

Postsecular History

This book explores how contemporary approaches to the meaning of time and history follow patterns that are simultaneously political and theological. Even after postsecular critiques of Christianity, religion, and secularity, many influential ways of dividing time and history continue to be formed by providential narratives that mediate between experience and expectation in movements from promise to fulfilment. In response to persistent theological influences within ostensibly secular ways of understanding time and history, Postsecular History revisits and revises the concept of periodization by tracing powerful efforts to divide time into past, present, and future, and by critiquing historical partitions between the Reformation and Enlightenment. Developing a postsecular critique of theopolitical periodization in six chapters, Postsecular History questions how relations of possession, novelty, freedom, and instrumentality implied in the prefix ‘post’ are reproduced in postsecular discourses and the field of political theology.

NMR of Quadrupolar Nuclei in Solid Materials

NMR OF QUADRUPOLAR NUCLEI IN SOLID MATERIALS Over the past 20 years technical developments in superconducting magnet technology and instrumentation have increased the potential of NMR spectroscopy so that it is now possible to study a wide range of solid materials. In addition, one can probe the nuclear environments of many other additional atoms that possess the property of spin. In particular, it is possible to carry out NMR experiments on isotopes that have nuclear spin greater that 1⁄2 (i.e. quadrupolar nuclei). Since more that two-thirds of all NMR active isotopes are quadrupolar nuclei, applications of NMR spectroscopy with quadrupolar nuclei are increasing rapidly. The purpose of th...

Jupiter's Travels in Camera

For four years during the 1970s Ted Simon rode a motorcycle around the world, something no-one had ever done before. He described his adventures first in regular bulletins for The Sunday Times and then, after his return, in Jupiter's Travels, a book that has become revered as a classic of travel writing. Published by Penguin, Jupiter's Travels has sold nearly a million copies in the intervening years and has remained in print throughout that time, remaining a strong seller even today. Ted Simon took a decent SLR camera on the trip, but only a handful of his several thousand color photographs were included in Jupiter's Travels. These are now included in the book published to coincide with the 40th anniversary of his ground breaking trip.

Transnational Catholicism in Tudor England

Transnational Catholicism in Tudor England details the relationship between transnational mobility and the development of Tudor Catholicism. Almost two hundred Catholics felt compelled to exile themselves from England rather than conform with the religious reformations inaugurated by HenryVIII and Edward VI. Frederick E. Smith explores how these emigres' physical mobility reconfigured their relationships with the men and women they left behind, and how it forced them to develop new relationships with individuals they encountered abroad. It analyses how the experiences of mobility anddisplacement catalysed a shift in their religious identities, in some ways broadening but in others narrowing ...

In 1875 they immigrated land near Blumenhof, Manitoba. Descendants and relatives lived in Manitoba and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to Nebraska, Kansas and elsewhere in the United States. Some descendants immigrated to Chihuahua and elsewhere in Mexico.

Nonlinear Dynamics

Additional Resource Materials Human behavior would not be interesting to us if it remained the same from one moment to the next. Moreover, we tend to be sensitive to changes in people's behavior, especially when such change impacts on our own, and other's, behavior. This book describes a variety of techniques for investigating change in behavior. It employs conventional time series methods, as well as recently developed methodology using nonlinear dynamics, including chaos, a term that is not easy to define, nor to confirm. Although nonlinear methods are being used more frequently in psychology, a comprehensive coverage of methods, theory and applications, with a particular focus on human be...
